Boring Sponge

This bright yellow sponge is often found growing in large outcrops on the seabed. The large holes where the sponge breathes out are very easy to see. It didn’t get its name from not being interesting – it also occurs in a form that can dissolve sea shells and grow into them – in other words it bores its way inside.
