Common Milkwort

This is a beautiful little flower – but it is very easy to miss it as it is one of the smallest of the machair flowers. The petals are very unusual – they are long and thin and shaped like a tube.

It is called milkwort as it used to be given to help new mothers when they were feeding their babies.
